The hood is part of the drying process
The hood does more than enclose the machine. It contains hot, humid air, manages its extraction and helps maintain stable conditions throughout the drying section.
When there are leaks, degraded insulation or irregular distribution, the plant needs to provide more energy to get the same result. The environment around the machine can also receive heat and humidity above desirable.
When modernization makes sense
The decision should consider structural condition, airtightness, exhaust capacity, spare parts availability and new production targets. An inspection supported by measurements distinguishes adjustment issues from physical equipment limitations.
In many cases, a coordinated retrofit is the best approach. In others, a new hood reduces legacy interfaces and provides a better foundation for automation, heat recovery and future expansion.
Benefits that need to be measured
Specific consumption of steam, exhaust humidity, sheet stability, room temperature and availability are useful indicators. Compare these data before and after intervention makes the result traceable.
